Why brands should be social activists

June 9, 2021 Mark Emond

This week’s episode of Wisdom Wednesday is taking a short pause from the post-pandemic marketing series to discuss social activism. The recent, heartbreaking discovery of 215 indigenous children killed in Canada at a residential school inspired this episode to look at the role brands can play in social justice.

In this episode I will discuss:

  1. The moral imperative for engaging in social activism;
  2. The power brands have to change the world;
  3. Consumers’ desire to support brands that care and;
  4. Tips for your brand to genuinely support social causes.

We practice social activism at Demand Spring as well by dedicating our time, words, talent, and money to help support social causes that align with our values. This month, we’re supporting the Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month campaign. Visit Alz.org for more information.
