Demand Spring is celebrating our 10th anniversary this month. As I wrote about last month, it’s incredible to see how much B2B marketing has grown up in these past ten years. CMOs and their teams are now at the forefront of driving engagement and conversion throughout the buyer journey.
It’s also really satisfying to see how much Demand Spring has grown during this time. Today we are serving as Revenue Marketing advisors and implementation partners to the CMOs and marketers of some of the worlds’ biggest and fastest growing B2B brands.
A couple of years ago I started thinking about our next 10 year segment. How would we continue our mission of helping marketers stand taller, as strategic growth drivers in their organizations? How would we realize our vision of becoming the most respected B2B marketing consulting firm in North America? How would we continue to evolve our culture within the values that are at the core of who we are?
The other question I asked myself was who was best to lead us during these next 10 years and in what role could I best serve the company?
The answer to who was best to lead us was one that I came to pretty easily and have not wavered from—Matt Roberts. Matt has seen our business from all angles. I first met him when he became a customer of ours at both Staples and Forrester. He has served on our board of advisors. And for the last three years, he has been a leader at Demand Spring, most recently responsible for our entire consulting services organization.
Matt is a strategic executive, who leads with an equal mix of a focus on the health of the business, and the health of the stakeholders in and around the business. He’s grounded, respected, liked, and ready to take the next step in his career. He’s also ready to lead us by honoring our culture and values, while bringing fresh perspectives to how we best serve our clients, our employees, and our own growth aspirations.
That’s why I am happy to announce and welcome Matt as the new CEO of our company.
As for me, I will move into an Executive Chair role with the company. I will be semi-retired. I am really looking forward to spending more time with my family, and indulging in my passion of helping grow and develop young people through coaching basketball. I’m looking forward to doing more charity work, helping serve those in need.
When it comes to Demand Spring, I will partner with Matt to help guide the long-term strategy of the company and to serve and support him, our team, and our clients as needed. You will also continue to see me sharing my thoughts on leadership and marketing frequently through social media and on our website.
The next 10 years are going to be very interesting in B2B marketing. I believe there will be an incredible evolution in areas such as how we manage customer trust, the continuing evolution of the marketing and sales relationship, and the MarTech landscape, to name just a few areas to watch closely.
I know that Matt and our entire team at Demand Spring are up to the challenge of evolving and helping to shape the market. Here’s to the next ten years!
