I’m Erin, Marketo Specialist at your service.

Erin Upton

Hi, my name is Erin, and my job is to help give you back some much needed time in your day so that you can be better at your job! I’m a Marketo specialist that will go into your company’s Marketo instance and help build & execute all of your marketing programs.

Marketo specialist

Clients come to us with similar stories: “We implemented our marketing automation platform XX months/years ago. We know it has huge potential, but we just can’t find people with enough expertise or time on our team to execute all our ideas!

That’s where we come in.

Think of me as an extension of your own team – in many cases, I actually do feel like I’ve acquired new co-workers with my clients.

So what does my day-to-day look like as a Marketo specialist? Read on!

9 a.m. – Flanked by a bowl of shreddies and a coffee, I open up my to-do list to one of the 5 different project management tools my clients use to keep the team organized. These tools (i.e. Mavenlink or Wrike) are the saving grace to my organization and help keep all communications and due dates straight in my head.

Today I’ve got a webinar program, 3 Lunch and Learn event programs and a post-event email to create. Better get to work!

It might seem like a daunting task to aim to get all this done in one day, but thanks to some efficiencies we’ve implemented like tokenized program templates and program briefs, the clients’ life and my life just got a whole lot easier. They know exactly what information they need to provide to me, and I can execute much faster. Efficiency, efficiency, efficiency!

Noon – Time for our weekly client meeting. We discuss upcoming projects, roadblocks and of course, the weather.

1:00 p.m. – By now the emails for the 4 programs have been built and have been sent over to the client for review. In the meantime, I’ll set up any smart campaigns, Salesforce syncs, and list uploads to make sure this program will go off without a hitch.

1:45 p.m. – Lunch today is leftover lasagna. I am a leftovers queen; whoever is a leftover hater has too much time on their hands.

2:15 p.m. – Just got a notification that our client needs an email performance report from a program I worked on last week – I’ll jump on that now, it won’t take long.

2:45 p.m. – And then the fire drills begin. Our client has just requested an urgent email send that needs to go out before EOD. We try to avoid last-minute campaign requests but alas, these things happen! SIDE NOTE: Fire drills can raise the blood pressure. I find taking 5 yoga breaths helps avoid getting overwhelmed. Namaste

Ok, no worries I’ve got it covered. Thirty minutes later the email is sent over for review and can be finalized for the send.

3:15 p.m. – Ok back to the final program. Type, click, bite of croissant, repeat.

4:15 p.m. – Once the final program is signed, sealed & delivered I’m on my way because I saw notifications of all the edits needed for the previous program. “Add a sentence here, remove a picture there”.  We can’t stop, and we won’t stop until…perfection. SIDE NOTE: perfection isn’t actually sustainable. While we do strive for it, I am, in fact a human being. But we do have a formula for perfection that involves: program briefs, templates, QA, client review, QA, proofreading, and only consuming purified mountain water from the glaciers of British Columbia (company policy, helps with concentration).

5:00 p.m. – Edits complete and I’ve got the OK from our client. With one last check-list look over (from the program owner name down to the Smart Lists and confirming send numbers, I make sure to always triple-check each aspect of the program) these programs are ready to be scheduled.

5:30 p.m. – Time to schedule myself a glass of wine because it’s 5:30 and this girl needs a drink!

As a Marketo specialist, I’ve gotten to see how companies benefit from outsourcing this type of work. We’ve been able to take a company from using Marketo in its most basic state, to a full-fledged, fully-loaded marketing ecosystem. The amount of time we’ve given back to our clients’ day-to-day schedules is quite impactful — if I do say so myself!

Here’s what a client of ours had to say about our partnership:

Working with the Demand Spring team has proven to be a big win for the CyberArk global marketing team. Not only have they been able to streamline our processes and our Marketo instance but they continue to flawlessly execute 100’s of marketing campaigns per month. – Sara Greer, CyberArk

If you think you could use someone like me on your team – reach out! We’d be happy to discuss how we can help you out.
