Marketo Engage | Upcoming Changes to Design Studio URLs

December 18, 2020 Kris Latulippe

On January 21, 2021, Adobe will be implementing a change on new Marketo Engage instances to a new URL structure. For all existing Marketo Engage customers, this change will take place beginning April, 1, 2021. Adobe will start releasing additional information on timelines of when this change will happen in March 2021.

How is this different?

Subscriptions already using a custom CNAME for their landing pages will be the least affected by this change, however, if you are not using a custom CNAME, the URL structure for Forms, Landing Pages and Image and Files assets will change completely.

What does this affect?

URL changes will affect Landing Pages, Forms, and Images and Files assets.

Why is this change being made?

Marketo Engage subscriptions that are not configured with a branded CNAME are vulnerable to a Phishing Attack where someone may not be sure a link to a Marketo Engage hosted asset belongs to the business they expect it to belong to.

How to start preparing for these changes:

  • Configure your Landing Page URLs with a CNAME
  • Secure your Landing Pages with SSL
  • If you use any form embed code on your web properties: Begin updating pages where  you embed Marketo Engage forms with the new embed code introduced in the October 2020 release (requires secured landing pages.)
  • Begin an audit of  where  you reference Design Studio assets on the web. This will help you begin a plan to update any existing references to the older URL structure before the deprecation begins in 2022.

How does this affect your instance?

If you have configured your CNAME and have secured your existing URLs, your references will continue to work after the migration to the new URL structure. However, in 2022, Adobe will deprecate the old URL structure in use today.  We recommend that you check CNAME configuration, secure (SSL) your landing pages, and swap out the new form embed code on your website to avoid any disruption upon deprecation.
